On Wednesday, director Bryan Singer tweeted an announcement that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage would be joining the ever growing cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Though Singer has not yet elaborated on what role Dinklage will be playing, the popular fan theory is that he will be portraying an Alpha Flight member named Puck.
Dinklage serves as the first new face to the film. Supposedly a continuation of 2011’s X-Men: First Class, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult have already been confirmed to return.
Joining them will be cast members of the previous trilogy, including Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore.
Reportedly, the film will be based on the popular Days of Future Past arc by Chris Claremont. In it, the story alternates between a present-day mission wherein the X-Men fail to prevent the assassination of a senator and a dystopian future where Sentinels overrun the U.S. and mutants are held in internment camps. The connecting tissue in the story is the future version of Kitty Pryde, who transfers her mind back in time and overtakes her younger self’s body. Once there, she tries to warn the others of the ensuing chaos to come.
