Vampire Weekend Releases LP3's Album Title, Cover Art


After a small hunt that started from Vampire Weekend’s Twitter, the band had fans picking up copies of today’s New York Times (specifically the classifieds section) for a first look at their album title: Modern Vampires of the City (check out a screenshot of the announcement here). The notice was at the top of the “Notices & Lost and Found” section, and simply read “Modern Vampires of the City. May 7, 2013.”

Just an hour later, we got a look at the upcoming album cover, which you can take a look at above. The album was recorded in New York and Los Angeles by Ariel Rechtshaid, who co-produced the album with keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij. It follows up 2010’s Contra, and the band described the album as as “darker” with a more “organic” sound in a feature with Q Magazine.
