Half The Sky Movement and Students Rebuild Reveal Award Finalists

Students Rebuild and Half The Sky Movement announced in a press release Monday the launch of their first annual Students Rebuild Awards.

This year’s Students Rebuild Awards will award five young women $10,000 each to help advance the charitable work these women do to “create positive solutions for the youth of their communities, and ultimately, the world.”

Beginning Monday and ending March 8, anyone can learn more about the award finalists and vote for the ones they would like to win one of the $10,000 prizes. The winners will be chosen based on the equally-weighted votes from selection committee members and votes from everyone else.

The members of the selection committee include America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Olivia Wilde (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone), Eileen Fisher, Jeffrey Sachs, Zainab Salbi, Sheryl WuDunn, Maggie Doyne and a Half the Sky Movement campus ambassador from India named Shomira Sanyal.

Half The Sky Movement is an organization that works to bring attention to international women’s issues. This organization was inspired by a book of the same name written by journalists Sheryl WuDunn and Nicholas Kristoff, that spotlights the efforts of young women who work to improve the lives of the women in their communities.

Students Rebuild is an organization that works to connect students from all over the world so that they can work together on improving global issues.

The winners of the first annual Students Rebuild Awards will be announced during the week of March 18.
