will host a variety show for Participant Media’s new cable network, pivot based on his collaborative production company hitRECord.
Pivot announced the series at their recent New York upfront presentation. On hitRECord’s Tumblr page, Gordon-Levitt provided this statement to explain the show and express his excitement: “Hit RECord on TV is gonna be a new kind of variety show. I’ll host the show and also direct our global online community to create short films, live performances, music, animation, conversation, and of course, more! Each episode will be focused on a different theme. And like always, anybody with an internet connection is invited to contribute.”
HitRECord.org was founded in 2005 by the (500) Days of Summer actor and his brother to allow internet users to submit “hit records” for review as well as inviting others to adapt projects into greater interpretations.
According to Entertainment Weekly, pivot will also feature a saga about William Shakespeare and a docu-series with blogger Meghan McCain. Hit RECord on TV is expected to premiere on August 1.
