According to The Hollywood Reporter, Magnolia Pictures has acquired the North American rights to the documentary Good Ol’ Freda, which centers on the career of Freda Kelly. Kelly worked as a secretary for The Beatles and witnessed firsthand many of their defining moments (as well as the inevitable fallouts).
Directed by Ryan White, the film made its U.S. premiere last month at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. The film has the support of both Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney and will feature original Beatles music.
“Freda Kelly is a truly remarkable woman, and Good Ol’ Freda is a treasure trove and delight for fans of the Beatles, from casual to die-hard,” Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles said in the article. “Ryan White has done us all a great service in telling her story.”
Magnolia plans to release the film theatrically later this year.
