For those discouraged that Neutral Milk Hotel will not be playing anywhere near their town, fear not. In an interview with Pollstar, the band’s booking agent Jim Romeo confirmed that the band is set to launch an international tour sometime in 2014.
“People should know that they shouldn’t get discouraged if they don’t get tickets to these few shows,” he said. “There will be some more fall shows announced soon and a much longer and fuller tour planned for 2014 that will span the globe.”
And the band rewarded fans with more 2013 dates today, which kick off in early October in Baltimore and for now, wrap up in Tokyo. Check them out below.
It looks as though hell just froze over.
After close to 14 years of inactivity (their last live performance was in 1999), Neutral Milk Hotelannounced that they will be hitting the road for five dates in October, November and December, including a two-night performance at Athens, Ga.’s own 40 Watt Club.
According to the website, a portion of the concert proceeds and one dollar from every Neutral Milk Hotel box set purchased will be donated to the charity Children of the Blue Sky as well as others “in need.”
Merge Records confirmed that Jeff Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster and Jeremy Barnes, who made up the band around In the Aeroplane Over the Sea will be the touring members of the band.
