From Kermit’s “ The Rainbow Connection” to Newton’s color wheel of notes, music and color have an undeniable courtship. The Color Play is a record player of sorts, which explores that very relationship. Essentially, it lets you play DJ with color.
Like Newton’s wheel, the Color Play assigns different pitches to corresponding wedges. The width of each wedge determines the rhythm. Users can arrange the wedges to create an array of sound loops.
The Color Play is a project by Louise Foo and Natasha Dzurny for their Introduction to Physical Computing at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University.
