Vacation Remake Delayed Indefinitely

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line has delayed its remake of National Lampoon’s Vacation starring Ed Helms.

As previously reported, Helms is set to star as the grown-up Rusty embarking on another hectic Griswold road trip to Wally World, but this time with his own wife and kids. Christina Applegate is attached to play Helms’ spouse, and Vacation staples Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are expected to make cameos.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley co-wrote the script and are also attached to direct the reboot based on the 1983 original comedy. THR sources claim “creative differences” are the reason to halt production on the project that was scheduled to film in Atlanta this July. With the direction of the movie undecided, the next Vacation is expected to be on hold for either a few months or possibly a full year.

Helms currently stars as Andy Bernard on NBC’s The Office, which will have its series finale on May 16. Saying goodbye to another career milestone, he will also soon promote the final installment of The Hangover saga for a May 24 release.
