Atlanta rap heavyweights Goodie Mob are back with a new track. “Special Education” features Janelle Monáe and appears on their upcoming album Age Against the Machine.
With all Mob rappers chiming in on this track, rhymes are laid over whirring electronics. A highlight of the track is the lovely vocal styling of Monáe on the sing-song chorus of “I don’t wear the clothes you wear, I’m just different and I don’t care.”
The rap collective’s Age Against the Machine, which will be out on Aug. 27, is their first album since 1999’s Word Party hit stores. According to a recent statement from Goodie Mob’s Cee-Lo Green, the record will release amid a flurry of new material from the petite rapper, as as he has also promised a new solo album and one in the works from his Danger Mouse project, Gnarls Barkley.
In his own way, it’s a promise that in an Xbox world, this Atari still knows how to play the game.
