Dexter actor Michael C. Hall will serve as executive producer and writer for a TV adaptation of Matthew Specktor’s novel American Dream Machine for Showtime.
The plot alternates between 1970s and present-day Hollywood and follows the stories of a talent agent and his two sons. It is described as “a sweeping narrative about fathers and sons, the movie business, and the sundry sea changes that have shaped Hollywood and, by extension, American life.”
Hall also serves as executive producer on Dexter and has directed a recent episode of the show. Scott Buck, Dexter showrunner, will supervise the scriptwriting for Dream Machine.
It is not certain whether the show will pilot, but its credentials are promising.
