Australia’s iconic Sydney Opera House is serving as a canvas during Vivid Sydney, an annual festival celebrating light, music and ideas. For 18 days the city and its landmarks are transformed into a spectacle of lights and color.
The Australia-based Spinifex Group was commissioned to turn the sails of the Sydney Opera House into a patchwork of projected color and pattern. The transformative artwork is titled “PLAY.”
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is also serving as a canvas in this year’s festival, as well as Darling Harbour. Vivid Sydney commenced on May 24 and continues through June 10.
