One month ago, Southern California music lovers were catching the last soundwaves from bands ending the two-weekend-long music extravaganza that was Coachella. Now, it seems their neighbors up North might have been a little jealous.
Goldenvoice announced yesterday that they will host the first-annual First City Festival in Monterey, Calif. later this summer, promising “a sophisticated musical line-up of 30-plus bands in a relaxed and beautiful coastal setting,” according to the festival’s website.
The festival, which gets its name from Monterey’s claim as the first official capital of California, will take place at the Monterey County Fairgrounds from Aug. 24 – 25 and will feature Modest Mouse, Passion Pit, MGMT, Neko Case and Beach House, among others. The festival will include a “full carnival, complete with rides and games.”
Two-day passes will be available on the festival’s website on May 31 at 10 a.m. PST for $149.50. VIP passes will also be available for $279.50.
