Though information on the latest Spike Jonze flick Her—a sci-fi romance—has been under tight wraps for a while, new details were recently released by Warner Brothers Pictures, announcing Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pratt’s addition to an already well-rounded cast and setting an opening date for Nov. 20.
The film revolves around lonely writer Theodore (Phoenix) who purchases an operating system created to meet his every need, unexpectedly falling in love with it. An unconventional romance that makes social commentary on the close relationship we develop with our technological devices, the film is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
Stills from the set catch Joaquin Phoenix looking lovably quirky in a pair of nerdy specs, which is a welcome change for fans who want to see a lighter side of Phoenix since his Oscar-nominated turn in The Master and a host of similarly heavy roles in the past. Jonze—who has also directed the music videos for several notable artists like Arcade Fire and Weezer—wrote and directed the film.
Also starring in the film are actresses Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton.
