Get excited rabid Marvel fans. ABC has officially announced that its hotly anticipated new series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will appear at San Diego’s Comic-Con International 2013 this summer with executive producer Joss Whedon.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which makes its premiere on ABC this fall, is set in the same universe as The Avengers and other films from Marvel’s franchise. The plot follows the adventures of the undercover organization that assembled The Avengers: the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.). The show features Clark Gregg as the apparently not-dead Agent Phil Coulson and also stars Brett Dalton, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Ming-Na Wen.
Marvel Television will introduce the live-action TV epic at a panel on July 19 that will feature Whedon and Marvel’s Head of Television and series executive producer Jeph Loeb.
Superhero geeks who can’t make the panel will have another opportunity to learn more about the upcoming series, however, as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will also be featured at the Marvel Entertainment Booth on the Convention Center floor throughout the entire weekend “with special surprises to be announced,” according to ABC’s press release.
ABC’s Once Upon a Time and spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will also make appearances at Comic-Con on July 20.
