Chaz Bundick is no stranger to dance music, whether it be through the funky electro-pop stylings of Toro y Moi or his DJ-oriented side project Les Sins. The man is a master of crafting obnoxiously catchy tunes through both samples and original material. Recently Bundick contributed his talents to an exciting remix project that combines the swiftly rising genre of EDM with the revered sounds of classic jazz artists.
As a part of Verve Records’ Verve Remixed series, Toro y Moi have remixed Billie Holiday’s “My Man.” The label’s latest installment is a 13-track release entitled Verve Remixed: First Ladies and features some of electronic music’s hottest names chopping and screwing timeless classics from old female jazz singers.
The compilation, released July 16, features contributions from artists like Bassnectar, Flume, Pretty Lights and Zeds Dead re-working songs from Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Marlena Shaw. However, you can listen to Toro y Moi’s glitchy take on this Billie Holiday tune below:
