The Arcade Fire
floodgates have been opened and now the news just keeps on coming. Alongside a brand new LP out on Oct. 29, the Montreal band has also just revealed that they’ve scored Spike Jonze’s upcoming film Her.
Her is a sci-fi rom-com starring Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore, a lonely writer who develops a relationship with a computer operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). The stellar cast also includes Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde and Chris Pratt.
“It’s a movie set in the slight future of L.A. and Joaquin Phoenix’s character buys the world’s first artificially intelligent operating system… it basically turns into a human, this entity, this consciousness, on his computer,” Jonze told the Playlist, adding that things eventually turn “into something more romantic.”
Jonze and Arcade Fire have crossed paths before, with Jonze directing the lengthy music video for the band’s 2010 album The Suburbs. His last film, Where the Wild Things Are, also used Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” in its trailer.
