Gone Home, a powerful new computer game from the Fullbright Company, tells the story of a young woman coming of age amid the riot grrrl milieu of the mid 90s. Much of its power comes from how thoroughly it refutes what we’ve come to expect from a game. It’s a novelistic game about people and the pains of real life. Even if you don’t normally play games you should consider playing this one. Here’s our review from earlier today.
Starting on Friday 8/16 Paste will be giving away five free Steam download codes for Gone Home through our @PasteGames Twitter feed. Follow @PasteGames, wait for the trivia questions about the game, and if you’re the first to answer we’ll DM you the download code. Codes are valid through Steam for PC, Mac or Linux, and make sure you have a computer that can handle 3D graphics. (Gone Home is far from a technical beast, but our games editor couldn’t run it adequately on a 2010 PC with integrated graphics until he upgraded to a low-level dedicated graphics card.)
The giveaway starts at noon on 8/16 and will continue throughout next week.
