TMZ has uncovered the emails that Elson sent to the courts, and while the exchanges don’t reveal any outright threats, the set does confirm one of the musicians White was upset with: The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.
“My concern with Auerbach is because I don’t want the kids involved in any of that crap … That’s a possible twelve f*ing years I’m going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that ahole with other people trying to lump us in together.” White continues on, saying “He gets yet another free reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world.”
TMZ has also made the chain of emails available for the public, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Original Text: Two years ago we were hearing reports of Jack White and ex-wife Karen Elson throwing a quaint, kind of hilarious divorce party. But something tells us that there won’t be any similar celebrations in the future. According to Nashville’s The City Paper, Elson has filed a restraining order against the musician due to continued harassment and a “fear for her and the children’s safety.”
White has allegedly been harassing Elson through text messages, emails and phone calls involving a custody dispute. The restraining order states that “this pattern of husband’s bullying wife into submission was a contributing factor in the demise of their marriage.” While Elson retains custody of the children, White has expressed interest in helping raise the two children, but the report states she believes White’s temper makes the musician unfit as a guardian.
The City Paper states Elson contacted White’s attorney over the numerous attempts White has made over settling the divorce terms, claiming that White doesn’t want to extend the process over fear of lawyers “ripping him off.” White has also apparently had issues with being “ripped off” in the past before, as it was also reported the musician attempted to have his kids transferred from their private school because the children of a musician who “ripped him off” attended the same school. To top it off, the report says White berated his wife after attending the wedding of yet another musician that “ripped off” the former White Stripe.
Elson’s attorney states that the two have made attempts at settling the dispute privately, but the two now have an Aug. 29 court date over a custody dispute.
A request for comment from White’s publicist was not immediately returned, but we’ll update as we learn more.
