Marriage is an insane proposal—what’s the point in hanging out with somebody until one of you dies? That’s the type of existential crisis Aziz Ansari has pondered on stage, and it’s also the first glimpse we have into his upcoming comedy special Buried Alive. The standup comedian and star of NBC’s Parks and Recreation has released a brief snippet via the Netflix YouTube channel in which he breaks down the absurdity of marriage and the rituals that couples willingly subject themselves to along the way. The bit is just a taste of his new hour-long comedy special Buried Alive, which will arrive exclusively to Netflix on Nov. 1.
Ansari worked his new material throughout his North American “Buried Alive” tour, which lasted from April to July last year. His third standup special places its focus on how 21st century technology has completely warped what we consider to be normal dating and romance as we know it. His first two specials Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening and Dangerously Delicious are already available to stream on Netflix while you wait for next Friday to roll around.
