Jean Luc Godard’s Contempt (1963) opens with a shot of Brigitte Bardot, baring nothing but her signature cat-eyed makeup and her perfectly tossed blonde hair because that’s all she needed. Bardot is the iconic sex kitten of 1960s French and Italian cinema. She sizzled while keeping a doe-eyed innocence, which makes her the perfect muse for sexy shoe and accessories designer Jimmy Choo and spokesmodel Nicole Kidman.
In a behind-the-scenes video shot in the Hamptons, Kidman talks about dancing on tables with snakes, wearing heels despite her height and partying in 1999. She also talks about Bardot’s influence:
“…to draw from someone like Bardot is fabulous. She was a very, very strong cinematic presence, but I think she was also a world presence in terms of setting a style in the same way that Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly set their styles.”
Choo’s Cruise 2014 line is definitely sexy. Capped-toe polka dot pumps, a python skin bag, black ankle-strap stilettos and peacock feather bejeweled sandals are just some of the pieces that make the collection. Watch the film at jimmychoo.com.
