Running Wild: The Life of Dayton Q. Hyde will premiere 7 p.m. this evening at New York’s Village East Cinema, preceding a party to celebrate the premiere as well as the soundtrack release at Bowery Electric.
The documentary chronicles how Dayton Q. Hyde, a Michigan-born cowboy, spent his life undertaking conservation projects before eventually establishing the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in South Dakota.
According to a press release on the documentary’s website, Running Wild seeks to ”[serve] as an enduring record of tales from ‘a West that was and will never be again.’”
Suzanne Mitchell, who directed the documentary, chose to document Hyde’s story after meeting him nearly two decades ago while he was living alone on Black Hills.
