Irish songwriter Glen Hansard is set to release a new EP Drive All Night. The four-track EP will feature three new songs from Hansard as well as the Springsteen cover/title track. For “Drive All Night,” Hansard enlisted the help of Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Joe Henry and Jake Clemons (of the E Street Band).
Speaking to Rolling Stone last year, Hansard talked about how Springsteen influenced him. “I remember sitting next to Bruce Springsteen, and he put things in perspective for me so, so well,” Hansard said. “He said, ‘When you have success, you need to mark it, even if it’s opening a beer or a bottle of champagne or going to dinner with your family or taking a holiday. If you don’t mark your success, then the day your ship comes in might just be another day at the office.’ And I remember thinking, ‘Jesus, that’s so true!’”
Hansard’s Drive All Night will receive a physical release on Nov. 25 via ANTI-, and a digital release on Dec. 3. All proceeds made from the digital sales of “Drive All Night,” will go to the Little Kids Rock music charity.
