Kanye West’s Halloween sure hasn’t been much fun this year. After suing one of YouTube’s co-founders for recording a video of his marriage proposal to Kim Kardashian without his consent, West’s Yeezus Tour came to a screeching halt after one of his tour trucks crashed en route to his upcoming Canadian gig. According to his label, a truck carrying a video truss and 60-foot, circular LED screen was involved in an accident on the rapper’s trip to Vancouver.
Fortunately nobody has been reported injured, but the tour truck was carrying crucial performance equipment that has been ruined beyond repair, according to People magazine. West’s Yeezus Tour with Kendrick Lamar has been postponed in the meantime, and at least three upcoming tour dates will have to be rescheduled. Island Def Jam Music Group has confirmed that, without this essential equipment, performing is impossible under the circumstances.
“This gear is central to the staging of the Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA,” a Def Jam rep said. “As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and the Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated.”
For now, his Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis shows have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. An announcement on the status of the shows beyond those three dates is still forthcoming. There is no telling yet if his giant mountain or the Jesus-lookalike costume were affected by the crash.
