Epix has announced that Patton Oswalt’s latest TV special, Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time, will premiere on the cable channel on Friday, Jan. 17. Directed by fellow comedy weirdo Bobcat Goldthwait, the performance was filmed in July at San Diego’s Spreckels Theater and will be Oswalt’s first full-length special since 2011’s Finest Hour.
Both Finest Hour and Oswalt’s first special, 2009’s My Weakness Is Strong, premiered on Comedy Central. By moving to Epix with Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time, he joins comedians like Jim Norton, Jim Breuer, Tom Papa and others who have recently released specials on the relatively young premium network.
Unless you happened to catch Oswalt’s show at the Spreckels Theater this summer, it’s hard to say what might be included in his latest hour of stand-up, but Epix teases that the comedian “tackles issues ranging from frozen food to the future of America.” So, y’know, in other words, Oswalt stuff.
