Following the unfortunate death of Fast and Furious franchise star Paul Walker, Universal and James Wan, director of Fast and Furious 7, have halted progress on the upcoming sequel.
Fast and Furious 7 – which was already on break for the Thanksgiving holiday—was supposed to restart shooting in Atlanta on Sunday, but has been pushed back to decide what the next step should be.
The Hollywood Reporter states that much of the film was already finished, however the cast was planning to travel to Abu Dhabi in January to shoot more scenes.
Also considering the nature of Walker’s demise, having died in a car crash on Saturday, surely the film franchise which focuses on high-speed car chases and heists will have to be careful with the already shot footage.
Fast and Furious 7 is still scheduled for a July 11, 2014 release, with no word yet if this date will be pushed back.
