Good news for gamers—HBO and Telltale Games (the folks behind the Walking Dead videogame franchise) have announced a Game of Thrones video game to be released in 2014. Telltale CEO Dan Connors unveiled the plans on Saturday on Spike TV’s VGX. Watch the clip here:
There are no specifics about which actors will contribute to the game or when exactly it will hit stores, but we know the game will be episodic and based more on the television show than George R.R. Martin’s original books. No word yet on whether, like the show and book, any character can die at any time regardless of the emotional trauma it causes.
Telltale has a reputation for story-first, action-second narratives, which should fit well with the GoT style. This will be the first game in a multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing. The game will be available on PC, Mac and mobile device platforms.
