The Terminator series will attempt to once again break into the TV market following the cancellation of The Sarah Connor Chronicles in 2009. Skydance (not net) Productions and Annapurna Pictures announced today that they will bring the Terminator series back to television in 2015, that is, if the machines haven’t taken over by then.
The studio has enlisted the help of Thor and X-Men: First Class writers Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller to write and produce the series. The show is currently set to coincide with the upcoming Terminator film.
Although the full plot has yet to be revealed, the studio has announced that the series will follow a “critical” moment from the original Terminator movie, but with an alternative viewpoint/angle. The studio plans for the TV series and film to have intersecting storylines.
The new Terminator film will be part one of a new trilogy. Tentatively scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2015, the movie will also feature the original Terminator: Arnold Schwarzenegger. “I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January (2014) ,” Schwarzenegger said at the 21st Century Financial Education Summit back in June.
