Prince has announced that his first live performance of 2014 will at the Essence Festival in New Orleans.
Prince has been prepping for a big 2014, releasing several new songs “Ain’t Gonna Miss U When U’re Gone“, “Breakfast Can Wait”, and “”Groovy Potential over the summer. The artist has also been playing a handful of one-off shows recently, including a secret New York gig back in August and an open house party in October. Prince’s new album Plectrum Electrum is supposed to drop sometime in the next year, leading some to speculate that a tour will follow.
The only official dates Prince currently has confirmed are three performances in Uncasville, Conn. on Dec. 27-29, at the Mohegan Sun Arena. It’s unclear whether Prince’s New Orleans performance will be surrounded by a full-blown tour, but it could definitely mean more festival appearances from the artist.
The 20th annual Essence Festival will take place July 3-6, 2014 in New Orleans.
