Christine McVie retired from Fleetwood Mac more than 15 years ago, but as Fleetwood Mac News points out, she’ll be rejoining the band soon. Mick Fleetwood told the audience during their concert in Maui on Jan. 11: “This is the worst-kept secret there is, but Christine McVie will be rejoining Fleetwood Mac.”
Back in September, McVie voiced her desire to return to Fleetwood during one of their concerts at the O2 in London. McVie had been with the group for 24 years when she left in 1998. In a interview McVie had with The Guardian, she never expressed any remorse from her previous decision, but said “I think I was just music’d out. I suffered from some kind of delusion that I wanted to be an English country girl, a Sloane Ranger or something. And it took me 15 years to realize that it’s not really what I wanted at all.”
Fleetwood Mac is taking a brief break because McVie’s ex-husband, John, is currently undergoing cancer treatments. Throughout his illness John still performs regularly with the band. But during a Las Vegas concert in December, guitarist Lindsey Buckingham announced that they would be touring in the summer of 2014.
