The David O. Russell + Jennifer Lawrence formula paid big dividends in American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, and now the director and actor thr/news(The+Hollywood+Reporter+-+Top+Stories">may team up again) in a biopic of Joy Mangano, the Long Island single mother who became a celebrity after her invention of the Miracle Mop.
As it stands, the project is still in the discussion stage; Russell would want to rewrite a script by Annie Mumolo (who also wrote Bridesmaids), and the project would be produced by David Entertainment, a Fox company. Mangano invented the Miracle Mop in 1990, and once QVC allowed her to pitch the product on air, she sold 18,000 in 20 minutes. She later moved to the Home Shopping Network, where her new inventions like Huggable Hangers (the best-selling product in HSN history) and Forever Fragrant flourished.
American Hustle has 10 Academy Award nominations, and Jennifer Lawrence is up for Best Supporting Actress, a category in which she has already won for Silver Linings Playbook.
