20th Century Fox announced new release dates for three films and adjusted release dates for two of their films yesterday via Box Office Mojo.
The new police comedy movie Let’s Be Cops will release on August 13, 2014 and will be directed by Luke Greenfield. The film casted Damon Wayans Jr (The Other Guys) and Jake Johnson (New Girl) to be a pair of buddies who pretend to be police officers. Night at the Museum 3 was rescheduled to release on Dec.19, causing the film to share an opening weekend with The Hobbit: There and Back Again. The third installment of the family friendly comedy recently added Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) to the cast, which will continue to star Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Robin Williams and Ricky Gervais.
The Poltergeist directed by Gil Kenan (City of Ember) is set for release on Feb. 13, 2015 and will compete with Fifty Shades of Grey during its opening weekend. Sam Rockwell (Moon), Jared Harris (Lincoln) and Rosemarie DeWitt (The Watch) will star in the remake of the 1982 horror film. Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride was set for release that weekend, but has now been moved to April 3, 2015. The new love story about two couples that take on distressing journeys still has no director or cast set at this time.
The second installment of Planet of the Apes is set to release this summer, but the third film will release on July 29, 2016. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director, Matt Reeves, signed on last week to direct the untitled sequel.
