With Seth Meyers soon to head across the hall at 30 Rock to take over as Late Night host, an impending vacancy looms next to Cecily Strong at Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” desk. Deadline has reported that Lorne Michaels has tapped head writer Colin Jost to fill the coveted spot. Jost will become the third consecutive head writer to assume “Weekend Update” duties, following Tina Fey and Meyers.

Jost joined SNL as a writer in 2005 when he was just 22 years old and took over as head writer in 2012. He had previously led the prestigious Harvard Lampoon, and has since performed stand-up on shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show in addition to helming SNL’s writing team. Meyers’ last show is Feb. 1, so look for Jost to take over the following week.
