Showtime announced two new series at the Television Critics Association Press Tour today in Pasadena.
Philip Seymour Hoffman
(Capote) is at the center of the new comedy Happyish. Hoffman plays Thom Payne, a 42-year-old advertising executive struggling to keep up in the digital, social media world. Kathryn Hahn (Parks and Recreation) and Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill) co-star. The series is created and executive produced by This American Life contributor Shalom Auslander.
Dominic West (The Wire), Joshua Jackson (Fringe) and Maura Tierney (ER) headline the new drama The Affair. As the title suggests, the 10-episode series explores the psychological effects of an extramarital affair from the perspective of all parties involved. Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment) wrote the pilot and will serve as an executive producer on the series.
