Brooklyn garage rockers Vivian Girls announced their break-up today via the band’s Facebook page. The trio likewise confirmed that they will play two goodbye shows, the first to come Feb. 14 in L.A. followed by a March 1 show in the Girls’ hometown of Brooklyn.
“It’s been a long and crazy journey in the seven years [since the formation of Vivian Girls], and we feel as though the time has finally come to let our band rest in peace,” the band wrote. “It’s been an experience that we’ll look back on and cherish and we’d like to thank you for sharing it with us. We have had such an amazing time being a band, touring the world, releasing records and meeting all of you.”
Fans luckily shouldn’t have to wait very long to hear from the Girls’ various other projects— bassist Katy Goodman has recorded her solo material under the name La Sera just as recently as 2012, while guitarist Cassie Ramone has The Babies, who just did a West Coast tour last fall.
