The London-based studio Hundred Million has created a set of playing cards with graphic designers in mind. Their CMYK Playing Cards are based on the color model of the same name. The standard suits are replaced with the four colors of ink commonly used for printed media: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. All standard numbers are also represented by the opacity percentages of ink used on the cards.
“We’ve tried explaining the cards to people outside the industry and were met with almost perfect poker face expressions,” they say on their Kickstarter campaign page.
Hundred Million originally produced the cards back in 2012 with the hope of gaining much-needed publicity for their new studio. It worked and two years later they’re still receiving inquires and interest in their original cards.
Having tweaked and improved the original design for better game play, Hundred Million is setting out to fund a full production of the cards and they’re turning to Kickstarter to do it.
