Before Justin Bieber or the Olsen twins hit it big, there was Shirley Temple. A darling of the pre-WWII era, Temple was a superstar child actress, and was credited in 44 films between 1932 and 1949. She started acting when she was three, and even took part in 19 films of the Baby Burlesks short film series, an otherwise tame precursor to today’s Toddlers in Tiaras. She wooed millions across the world, and her bouncy golden curls were a staple of her persona, shining and gleaming as bright as she did.
Understandably so, her posters were loved by so many that they were re-imagined again and again. Her story came to a solemn end yesterday evening, when she passed away at the age of 85. To celebrate her life and her accomplishments, we’ve put together 20 of our favorite (and most iconic) Shirley Temple movie posters.
