SXSW Announces Full Comedy Lineup

Late last month SXSW announced an excellent lineup of comedy panels, and today SXSW Comedy’s full 2014 lineup was released.

The headlining event is An Evening With Bill Cosby, which will be hosted by Funny or Die and followed by an after party featuring Chromeo. Will Bill Cosby be at the after party? Is Bill Cosby going to dance to Chromeo? The SXSW website does not elaborate.

Several improv and sketch comedy events will be going down, as well, including the return of Upright Citizens Brigade, which might have been the funniest thing we saw last year. The 2013 UCB event was hosted by Chris Gethard, but this year Gethard will bring his entire show down to Austin. We recently saw TCGS outside its usual public access confines at SF Sketchfest ...and, yeah, we’d recommend it.

UCB will also be co-hosting Up Next with Fred Armisen with Above Average, a new digital comedy network from Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. The event will feature Tim Robinson, the Good Neighbor sketch team (Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney and more), Sasheer Zamata and Fred Armisen.

And of course, there will be podcasts. Lots of them. Comedy Bang! Bang!, Girl on Guy, The Todd Barry Podcast, You Made It Weird, Who Charted? and more will be setting up shop during Sx Comedy’s eight-day run from March 8-15.

There are too many performers to list really, but among the many talented comics that will be making appearances are Jake Weisman, Aisha Tyler, James Adomian, Tim Robinson, Nick Thune, Iliza Schlesinger, Kumail Nanjiani, Matt Braunger, Nate Bargatze and many many more.
