It took about 34 minutes for Ellen DeGeneres’ tweeted mega-selfie—capturing Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong’o, her brother Peter, and Angelina Jolie—to break the record of most retweets in Twitter history.
“If only Bradley’s arm was longer,” DeGeneres, host of the 2014 Oscars, wrote in lament over not being able to fit more stars into the snap. DeGeneres labeled it with the caption “best photo ever,” and, apparently, it was. Twitter’s Fail Whale error page reportedly showed for a few minutes after the photo was tweeted.
“We crashed Twitter,” DeGeneres commented later in the ceremony. Whether that’s true is up for debate—we live-tweeted the ceremony through last night and didn’t notice a disruption in Atlanta, Seattle, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Not only did @TheEllenShow set the record for most retweeted tweet ever, she’s also the first user to pass two million retweets for a sole Twitter post.
The previous top tweet was President Obama’s victory photo from the night of his re-election on Nov. 6, 2012. It has more than 780,000 retweets.
