Craft beer kingpin Sierra Nevada has opened a nano-brewery to experiment with small batch beers. The tiny brewery consists of a 20-gallon home brewing system, which is small enough to allow the Research and Development Department to experiment with wild ideas without wasting too much beer if the experiments don’t work out. The R&D team is excited to play with new grains, dry hopping trails and ingredients, according to the Sierra Nevadablog. They’re particularly excited about trying out the area’s local fruits.
Sierra Nevada is also planning on using the small brewery as an education center, where employees and visitors can “get their hands dirty” and explore the brewing process first hand.
