There’s no question about it, the FIFA World Cup has inspired the design community and resulted in an array of soccer-related art works. This series of illuminated sculptures by Belgium-based graphic designer Rizon Parein, in collaboration with Toykyo Studio, is a perfect example of art imitating sport.
Parein created works of art representing players and participating teams in this year’s World Cup. The sculptures feature portraits of players outlined in neon lights over various backdrops.
The series includes Neymar over Brazil’s flag, Cristiano Ronaldo over the words “who rules the world,” Wayne Rooney over a solid blue Union Jack, and Vincent Kompany over a blacked-out Belgian flag.
According to Parein’s Behance page, more installments in the series are coming, so be sure to check back.
