Home security is rarely cheap and somewhat understandably so. We all want to invest plenty into keeping our homes, loved ones, and possessions safe at all times. Outside of monthly fee based security systems though, there is now another option. It’s called Novi and it’s available via a Kickstarter campaign.
Novi uses its sensors to detect smoke and motion when you’re not at home, immediately issuing a siren sound. More conventionally for you, it also sends a series of photos to your phone so you can check exactly what’s going on, no matter where you are. Once you check out the images, it’s up to you whether to call the police immediately, ignore the alert, or request more pictures for greater clarity.
Novi is very simple to set up with the sensors and base station only taking around 10 minutes to organize. There’s no complex installation required, proving all the more useful for those renting, plus there’s no need to worry about contracts or monthly fees. You’re in control as soon as you buy the device. You can even choose to move the sensors around as they’re battery powered so you don’t have to worry about mains power.
Novi’s Kickstarter campaign has until July 24 to run and it’s already easily beaten its goal figure. Smartwatch integration is next on the list of stretch goal targets so it’s the ideal time to dive in with a pledge. While the Early Bird specials are all gone, for $199 you can grab a base station plus one sensor or you can opt to have two sensors for $279 including the base station.
As anyone who’s used home security solutions before can tell you, that’s a small price to pay for such safety.
