We all know Piper Kerman’s best-selling memoir is the basis for Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black and the lead character of the same name played by Taylor Schilling. But when it comes to the story line of Alex Vause, a major character brought to life by Laura Prepon, how much of her story is based off actual events? We might soon find out.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Catherine Cleary Wolters just inked a book deal with HarperOne to pen her memoir Out Of Orange. In Kerman’s memoir, Wolters is the inspiration behind the character Nora, who eventually was adapted to be Alex Vause in the Netflix drama. Wolters claims that her real life connection with Piper was quite different from portrayals in the dramatic episodes of the show.
While the basis of the relationship remains similar, the few tidbits that Wolters has revealed to Vanity Fair shed some interesting light. Wolters claims she never slept with Kerman in prison and she even had two prison wives while she was incarcerated.
Out Of Orange will likely give OITNB fans plenty to read after they’re done binge-watching. The book is scheduled to be published in May 2015.
