As Germany reclaimed the trophy at the 2014 World Cup, another competition also concluded: the battle of the brands. The World Cup’s captive audience of millions of enthusiastic soccer fans was the perfect venue for showcasing the brands that equipped the talented players.
Athletic brands provided expensive endorsements to both players and teams. Adidas created the official FIFA World Cup ball, as its done every year since 1970! Both Nike and Adidas declared early on that they would be this year’s eventual top sports brand, and battled it out on the field.
Curious about the validity of their claims, design agency Mission designed an infographic that explores how eight brands did on the field at the 2014 World Cup. Check out snippets from the infographic in the gallery, and click here for the full design.
