Ryan Adams surprised an enthusiastic audience at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire Thursday when he invited Johnny Depp onstage to help with the encore. Depp played lead guitar and soloed on a cover of Danzig’s “Mother” before staying to help out with “Kim,” from Adams’ new eponymous album.
Consequence of Sound
points out that Adams and Depp have been hanging out a lot lately. The actor played guitar on the studio version of “Kim,” as well as on “Aching for More,” the B-side to Adams’ new single, “Gimme Something Good.” Depp has also recorded or jammed in recent years with Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson, and the Black Keys, notes Rolling Stone.
