Serial, the podcast from This American Life’s reporter Sarah Koenig, has come in like a wrecking ball. We’re all listening to it, waiting anxiously for the new episode every Thursday. Even if you’re not, chances are you’ve been told you should by someone who does. It’s not uncommon to hear “Do you think Adnan killed Hae?” asked as innocuous party small talk. Truly, we are living in a Serial world.
The combination of Koenig’s aw-shucks-I’m-just-figuring-this-out-just-like-you reporting, the desire to put all the clues to together like any good mystery and the grisly reminder that everything that happened in the podcast, well, happened, and continues to happen, makes it no surprise that this one show has captivated so many people.
Michelle Rial, contributor to The Bold Italic, is one such captivated person. Rial, the mastermind behind the hilarious Twitter account This American Chart, which displays charts and graphs based on episodes of This American Life. Hooked like the rest of us, Rial has turned her eye for the humor in collections of innocuous details to Serial with a new series of charts.
Whether you’re trying to figure out the deal with Jay, or the mispronunciation of the word “chimp,” these charts a must for any Serial fan. For everyone else, well, we’re certain a Serial fan will breathlessly tell you about them anyway.
Check out the rest of the charts over at The Bold Italic.
