Designers and artists from a variety of disciplines have teamed up for the Monster Project, which aims to encourage kids to use their imaginations and pursue the arts.?
?”With a decreasing emphasis on arts in schools, many children don’t have the opportunity for creative exploration they deserve,” says the project?’s website.? ?”That’s a monstrous trend we would like to destroy.”
The Monster Project invites elementary school students to submit their drawings of monsters to the program.? ?In return,? ?the participating designers and artists create new versions of the monsters in their own style and inspired by the original artwork.
“By collaborating with the students and finding inspiration from their imaginings, we hope to help them recognize the value of their ideas and make them feel excited about the potential of their own minds,” they say. “Creativity comes in many forms, and we hope to encourage their exploration of their own unique perceptions of the world we share.”
?In 2014, more than 100 artists and designers from around the world participated in the project. You can view a sample of their work here, or see the full gallery on the Monster Project website.
