AMC’s anticipated spinoff for The Walking Dead will take place in Los Angeles, according to TVLine. The new rendition of the hit series was expected to take place far from its current setting in Georgia, with producers promising viewers a chance to experience the zombie apocalypse from another perspective.
It will be intriguing to see how Angelenos have fared compared to their Atlanta counterparts. Discussing the spinoff back in September, AMC President Charlie Collier noted, “Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world.”
Series creator Robert Kirkman expressed his enthusiasm for a TV project that wasn’t deeply rooted in material introduced by his graphic novels. “The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing,” he said.
Although the new Walking Dead series will take place in Los Angeles, the show’s home base for production and filming has yet to be determined. The series pilot is expected to begin shooting early next year.
