Fans of the Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series will have to wait out the winter a little longer for Martin’s sixth installment, The Winds of Winter.

Martin’s publisher, Jane Johnson, revealed the news on The Guardian this morning.

However, before fans are left to be contented with just the HBO television adaptation, Johnson did divulge that three previously released prequel novellas will be hitting the shelves in October, re-released together with illustrations to accompany the text.

The novellas are A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Hedge Knight, and The Sworn Sword and the Mystery Knight.

Gary Gianni, known for his work with Dark Horse Comics, will render the images as black and white line drawings done in classic style.

Johnson did not say when she expects The Winds of Winter to be completed.

For fans fearful that the HBO series will surpass Martin’s writing pace, there’s nothing to fear…yet. Game of Thrones’ upcoming fifth season is set to detail the events of A Feast for Crows, leaving a bit of time for The Winds of Winter to be completed.

The fifth season of Game of Thrones is slated to premiere in April.
