With Chelsea Handler stepping down in August 2014 from her long running talk show, Chelsea Lately, on the E! network, it looks like they have found a replacement in 29-year old, YouTube star, Grace Helbig.
Grace Helbig is best known for her YouTube channel “It’s Grace”, as well as the web series “DailyGrace” and a New York Times Best Seller Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to be a Grown-Up. She has also worked as a correspondent for the G4 series Attack of the Show! and been featured as a guest on @midnight with Chris Hardwick.
The new talk show, with the working title The Grace Helbig Project, is expected to be a hybrid comedy show taking on pop culture and includes exclusive interviews with celebrity guests. The show’s style is also expected to be unconventional, with these celebrity interviews taking place in random locations outside of a network studio. Whereas her predecessor’s humor was more biting and sarcastic, Helbig’s persona is sunny and intentionally awkward. As the audience that Helbig attracts skews younger, the show is also expected to directly engage with those audiences, incorporating Twitter, Vine, and Instagram into the viewing experience.
Like Handler was during the tenure of her show, Helbig will still be the only female late-night talk show host when she steps in.
The Grace Helbig Project will debut in April.
