The past few years have introduced a migration to minimalism. People are simplifying their closets, their diets and even the size of their houses.
Hospitality is taking a minimal turn, too. The latest craze—refurbished vehicles—turns its nose up at extravagance and the palatially roomy. By thinking smaller, travelers expand their options and experiences. Trailers, Airstreams, covered wagons, you name it, combine minimalism and roadside Americana to provide travelers with a kitschy, less expensive package … albeit one borrowed from the 1950s and 1960s.
Artsy American cities tend to have a greater number and variety of these vehicles up for grabs. However, you won’t just find trailer lodging in Seattle, Austin or the entire state of California. Campers and converted vehicles are popping up on Airbnb profiles all over the world.
